Heard about a text doing the rounds in Pakistan : IPL rejected 11 Pakistanis but Sania Mirza rejected all Indian men.

OMG! IPL shouldn’t have done that, the Indian media makes me feel that we all are heart broken because she rejected all Indians.

After much uproar and drama, the bill to reserve one third of seats in the Parliament and state legislatures was passed in the Rajya Sabha and soon it will go to the Lok  Sabha. What does that really mean in Indian politics?

Of course we are going to see more women in the Parliament, but Who ? I think, we are going to see many Rabri Devis and Golma Devis who don’t even put there signatures properly, becoming MPs and even Ministers only because they are related to a political leader.  Not that we aren’t having similar ministers now, but the situation is going to be more pathetic.

I don’t support reservations of any kind, whether that is in the higher education sector or in politics, if its not on economic basis. Unfortunately those who opposes the bill wants ‘reservation within reservation’. So thats not going to help.

Being an MP or a Minister means you are representing a lot of people. It is not the gender, religion or caste that matters, but its your ability that matters.

So to those activists, are you sure you are not batting for more Rabri Devis and Golma Devis ?

In November Lily Sussman, an American student wrote about, how she was welcomed by the Israel authorities by blowing up her MacBook, at the airport. As a part of security checks she was questioned and later on shot her laptop like hell.(link). This triggered lots of discussion in the social media.

Now she updates in her blog that the authorities reimbursed her for around 80 percent of the cost for a replacement laptop, in late December. (link)
